長期從事利用系統和合成代謝工程構建微生物細胞工廠生產重要營養化學品(N-乙酰氨基葡萄糖、母乳寡糖、幾丁寡糖等)的研究,主要承擔生化工程課程的講授工作。近年來共發表高水平研究論文60余篇(其中封面文章5篇),出版中文專著4部,參編英文專著3部;獲授權發明專利35項,其中國際發明專利4項;主持包括國家優秀青年基金、863項目等在內的省部級科研項目10項;獲得包括國家技術發明二等獎在內的國家和省部級獎項4項。現為教育部青年長江學者、江蘇省教育工作先進個人、江蘇省“青藍工程”優秀青年骨干教師,國務院學位委員會“輕工技術與工程”學科評議組秘書。英文期刊Microbial Cell Factories (IF: 3.744)、Scientific Reports (IF: 5.228)、Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology編委以及Bioresource Technology (IF: 4.917) 的客座編輯(Guest Editor)。
